Kaduna,Nigeria—In a tragic incident in Akansan Garmadi, Rumaya Community, Kwassam Ward, in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, bandits have killed a 27-year-old man, Piti Ezekiel, and abducted five others.
The abducted victims have been identified as Afiniki Baban Gida (46 years), Afiniki Timothy (41 years), Talatu Timothy (40 years), Manayi Abu (36 years), and Richard Dalhatu (42 years). Additionally, Mr. Timothy Daure (48 years), a traditional title holder in Kumana Chiefdom, sustained gunshot injuries but survived the attack.
The bandits invaded the village late at night, shooting indiscriminately, resulting in the tragic death of Ezekiel and the kidnapping of several individuals. This incident adds to the rising number of attacks by bandits in Kauru Local Government Area, causing immense fear and disruption among the local population.
Danbaba Katuka, the National Secretary of the Kauru Local Government Area CDAs Forum, expressed deep concern over the increasing violence in the region and urged the government to take urgent action to address the security challenges. He highlighted the impact of the attacks on the community, leading to the displacement of residents and disruption of economic activities.
Katuka emphasized the urgent need for robust military operations to eliminate the bandits and enhance the security situation in Kauru.
He noted that many residents had abandoned their homes and livelihoods out of fear of further attacks or abductions, underscoring the dire security conditions in the area.The communities in Kauru are determined to support efforts to improve security and restore peace in the region.
However, more proactive measures and effective security interventions are required to safeguard the lives and property of the residents.
The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer has been approached for confirmation of the incident, but there has been no response at the time of this report.
