The wife and two daughters of Kogi-based journalist Muhammed Bashir were among 10 family members abducted by gunmen in Kaduna State on Thursday.
Bashir’s wife and children had arrived in Kaduna earlier that day to spend the holiday with their extended family in a suburb of the Kaduna metropolis.
Bashir disclosed the incident in a brief statement to his colleagues in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, on Friday evening. He explained that his family had traveled from Abuja to Kaduna on Thursday, but were kidnapped later that night from their residence.
Bashir confirmed that he had contacted the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), who assured him that efforts were underway to rescue the victims and apprehend those responsible.
