Lagos, Nigeria — Former Super Eagles winger, Emmanuel Amuneke, has hailed Borussia Dortmund forward Serhou Guirassy as a prolific and reliable striker, while casting doubts over his speculated move to Barcelona.
In an interview with Africa Foot, Amuneke praised Guirassy’s consistent goal-scoring record, describing him as a valuable asset capable of thriving at any elite European club.
“Guirassy is a natural finisher and one of the most consistent strikers in recent seasons,” Amuneke noted. “He possesses the qualities to succeed at top clubs across Europe. If it were my call, I’d sign him without hesitation.”
Despite the striker’s credentials, Amuneke expressed skepticism about the likelihood of Barcelona making a move for the 29-year-old Guinean international. He pointed out that the Spanish giants are now more focused on nurturing homegrown talent rather than investing heavily in established players.
“Barcelona is currently investing in its youth system and avoiding big-money signings of older players,” he explained. “Guirassy is already 29, and although he’s in great form, the club seems to be prioritizing long-term development.”
Amuneke also cited financial considerations, noting that Dortmund would demand a high transfer fee, likely exceeding €60 million—a sum he believes may deter Barcelona’s interest.
“Given his form, Dortmund will place a premium on him. Though it could work on the pitch, the transfer is improbable from a strategic and financial standpoint,” he concluded.
