Grief Mounts as Bandits Claim Lives of 7 Soldiers in April Attacks

The Nigerian Army mourns the loss of seven soldiers in two separate ambushes, underscoring the escalating threat posed by bandits in the North West region. Amidst the tragedy, the Army also reports significant gains in counterinsurgency operations, culminating in the neutralization of 31 terrorists and the recovery of weapons.

In the latest attack, bandits in Katsina state claimed the life of Major A.G Mohammed, an officer of the 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, during a deadly ambush. Major Mohammed, a key figure in Operation Hadarin Daji, was overseeing military operations in several strategic axes of the state when he fell victim to the assailants’ assault.

Despite this devastating loss, the Nigerian Army remains resolute in its mission to combat insurgency and restore peace to the troubled region. Troops successfully cleared bandit camps and seized a cache of arms and ammunition, signaling progress in ongoing efforts to quell the insurgency.

Tragically, the month of April also witnessed another fatal ambush in Niger State, where six soldiers were killed during a fighting patrol to Karaga Village in Shiroro local government area. Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, expressed determination to avenge the fallen personnel and uphold the Army’s commitment to safeguarding the nation.

Senator Shehu Sani, in a poignant response to the heartbreaking loss, emphasized the profound sacrifices made by servicemen and urged Nigerians to honor their bravery and support their grieving families. In a heartfelt message shared on his social media platform, he highlighted the personal toll of each casualty, reminding the nation of the families left bereaved by the selfless dedication of these brave soldiers.
