Nigeria: Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has suspended the Acting Head of Service and Permanent Secretary for Establishment, Salisu Mustapha, effective immediately, due to allegations of salary deductions and non-payment of civil servants.
Mustapha has been directed to step aside to allow for an independent investigation, which will be led by Abdulkadir Abdussalam and is expected to submit its findings within one week.
To maintain administrative continuity, Governor Yusuf has appointed Malam Umar Muhammad Jalo, Permanent Secretary of REPA, as the new Acting Head of Service pending the outcome of the probe. The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on financial misconduct, emphasizing that those found culpable will face consequences.
