The Ekiti Government has denied reports that five persons drowned in flooding in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, represented by his Deputy, Mrs. Monisade Afuye, clarified that there were no fatalities in the flooding.
He expressed regret over the damage caused by the flood and assured that the government would take life-saving measures to mitigate property destruction in the affected areas.
The government urged residents to refrain from unwholesome practices like dumping refuse in drains and building structures on waterways, which contribute to flooding in the state.
