Governor Fubara Was Unprepared for Office

RiversChidi Lloyd, a former leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, has alleged that Governor Siminalayi Fubara admitted he was unprepared for the governorship role during the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primaries.

Speaking in an interview with AIT, Lloyd claimed that Rivers State has been in crisis since Fubara took office. He accused the governor of making divisive statements that could worsen the state’s instability.

Lloyd, known for his controversial past in the legislature, expressed concerns over the governor’s leadership, stating that Fubara had acknowledged his lack of readiness for the role. According to Lloyd, the governor had remarked during the primaries that he would have needed 20 years of preparation to govern effectively.

Comparing Fubara’s leadership to an inexperienced driver handling a luxury car, Lloyd suggested that the governor’s inexperience has contributed to the state’s prolonged political crisis.

The ongoing tensions in Rivers State have sparked debates about governance and potential federal intervention, with some political figures arguing that President Bola Tinubu could declare a state of emergency to restore order.
