Governor Adeleke Inducts 10,000 Youth, Reports 250,000 Jobs

Osogbo, Nigeria  —  In a bold move to tackle youth unemployment, Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially inducted 10,000 young people into the Imole Youth Corps.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at Freedom Park, Osogbo, Governor Adeleke emphasized that the initiative is a strategic effort to provide employment opportunities while addressing socio-economic challenges across various sectors.

“This program is a transitional initiative aimed at equipping our youth with opportunities in health, security, environment, and education,” he stated. “We are engaging 10,000 youths across all 332 political wards to deliver essential support services at the grassroots level.”

He urged the corps members to embrace their roles with dedication and commitment, emphasizing the importance of hard work in their assigned sectors.

Beyond the Imole Youth Corps, Governor Adeleke highlighted his administration’s broader efforts to reduce unemployment. He detailed policies such as financial support for small businesses, infrastructure development, and the agropreneur initiative, which have collectively created over 250,000 jobs in two years.

“Our local content policy ensures that Osun’s resources remain within the state,” he said, explaining that local contractors, technicians, and suppliers are prioritized in state projects, thereby generating employment and enhancing skill development.

The governor further announced plans to expand job opportunities through the statewide agropreneur initiative, set to launch across all 30 local governments and the Area Council.

He directed the Commissioner for Youth Development, Moshood Olagunju, to implement a performance evaluation system to monitor the impact of the Imole Youth Corps, assuring that regular assessments would ensure the program meets its objectives.

Commending the initiative, Commissioner Olagunju urged corps members to uphold the integrity of the program, describing Governor Adeleke as a leader deeply committed to youth empowerment.

“The governor’s dedication to youth development is evident in every policy he implements,” he said.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment from the state government to sustain initiatives that empower young people and strengthen Osun’s economic future.
