Bauchi State, Nigeria — Governor Bala Mohammed has issued an eight-week ultimatum to the Visitation Panel investigating industrial disputes at Sa’adu Zungur University.
The panel has been tasked with addressing lingering issues fueling strike actions by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and examining financial operations to develop strategies for effective and harmonious administration.
Speaking during the panel’s inauguration, Governor Mohammed urged the members to leverage their expertise to resolve challenges hampering the institution’s teaching and learning environment. He emphasized the importance of education as a foundation for meaningful development, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the sector.
The governor directed the panel to address issues affecting relationships between ASUU, NASU, and the university’s management. He noted that despite his personal interventions, significant challenges persist.
The panel’s chairperson, Prof. Gambo Laraba, expressed gratitude to the governor for entrusting them with the responsibility. She assured him of their dedication to delivering a comprehensive report that would guide the government in improving university operations.
