Nigerian Gospel singer, Tolulope Onakpoya, has returned home from the United States of America to further propagate the gospel through music ministry.
The Nigerian gospel singer, on her return, said: “I chose to come to Nigeria because this is where I am from. Music is more accepted here. I am good at praise and worship. I need to try to reach the youth.”
The seasoned music minister, composer and songwriter from Osun State said she will use Tik Tok and other social media platforms to promote gospel music.
“God gave me music and I am using it to His glory. If you don’t celebrate yourself, nobody will celebrate you.”
Speaking about her foray into music, Onakpoya, who studied Voice in Muson Diploma school of Music (Onikan) and graduated with an award as the best Contemporary Singer, said: “I had dreams of going into music from childhood . I had support from Dr Odukoya financially to make sure we reached out to the world”.
Onakpoya recently unveiled a new album titled “Amen”, an Afro-fusion, alongside her plans for gospel music in Nigeria.
The album unveiling held at the Eagles Club, Surulere, Lagos. The US-based singer hypnotised guests with an electrifying performance of her hit track “Amen”.
Speaking about the project, the singer described the album as dear to her heart, saying, “The underlying motive for whatever songs I have written and recorded is winning and drawing more souls to God.”
The Gospel singer has worked with several producers in Africa and in the US. She also has an EP that parades songs like “My Advocate”, “Shabbach”, “Halleluyah (Glory to the lamb), among others.
