In a statement, Oby Ezekwesili emphasized the urgent need for countries, particularly in Africa, to address the persistent issue of poor public finance management. She stressed that prudent management of public resources is essential for achieving economic growth and addressing poverty. Ezekwesili called on all branches and levels of government in Africa, including the Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary, to exemplify good financial governance. She posed the question of whether they are fulfilling this duty, especially considering citizens’ discontent with governance.
