Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, has dismissed speculations about his intention to run for Lagos State governor, emphasizing his focus on his current role.
Speaking at a gathering of the Surulere All Progressives Congress (APC) held at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos, Gbajabiamila attributed the rumors to those seeking to undermine his political trajectory.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives described the claims as baseless, stating, “My role as Chief of Staff is demanding, leaving no room for governorship ambitions.”
Gbajabiamila acknowledged suggestions linking prominent figures like Lagos State Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and Seyi Tinubu, son of the President, to the governorship race. However, he dismissed insinuations that he is positioning himself for the seat, urging his detractors to focus on facts.
“Some believe my political journey has peaked, but they underestimate God’s plan. Governorship is not in my immediate future,” he declared.
He urged members of the APC to remain steadfast, emphasizing that governance decisions rest with divine providence and timing.
For now, Gbajabiamila reaffirmed his dedication to serving the nation in his current capacity, calling for unity within the party ranks.
