London, UK — Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has predicted that rising British-Nigerian prospect Moses Itauma would defeat Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua, and other established names in the division if they fought now.
Fury made the bold claim shortly after Itauma stopped Dillian Whyte in just two minutes, a performance that sparked calls for a showdown with current unified champion Usyk.
“Boxing is a young man’s game. Moses Itauma will wreck all those old men in the division,” Fury wrote on social media, naming Usyk, Joshua, and other veteran heavyweights among those he believes Itauma would beat.
The 37-year-old Gypsy King argued that age plays a critical role at the elite level, saying he had always maintained that older fighters struggle against younger opponents.
“Even when I fought Wladimir Klitschko at 37, I told him boxing waits for nobody. Usyk, AJ, Zhang, Ortiz — all these big names of the past are a spent force. Itauma has youth on his side,” he stressed.
Fury, who has lost twice to Usyk and recently reaffirmed his retirement, described Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) as “the future of boxing”, insisting that the 19-year-old’s talent is undeniable.
“I’ve said it for years: Moses Itauma is the real deal. He’s young, hungry, and dangerous,” Fury declared.
The comments have stirred debate in boxing circles, with some fans viewing them as a genuine endorsement of Itauma’s potential, while others see it as lingering frustration over Fury’s back-to-back defeats to Usyk.
