Fulham have completed the signing of central defender Joachim Andersen from Crystal Palace for a fee in the region of £30 million.
The 28-year-old Denmark international had been on Fulham’s radar throughout the summer, with the club initially seeing an offer turned down as Crystal Palace held out for a price closer to £40 million. However, the two sides eventually reached an agreement, allowing Andersen to return to Fulham, where he previously enjoyed a loan spell during the 2020-21 season.
Andersen has signed a five-year contract with the Cottagers, which includes an option for an additional year. Expressing his delight at the move, Andersen said, “I’m really happy to be back. It feels a bit like coming home, which is an amazing feeling. I already know the club, the style of play, many of the players, and some of the staff, so there was no need for anyone to persuade me.”
The Danish defender originally joined Crystal Palace from Lyon in 2021, going on to make 112 appearances for the Eagles over his two seasons at the club.
Andersen also played a key role in Denmark’s Euro 2024 campaign, featuring in every minute of their matches before they were knocked out in the Round of 16 by tournament hosts Germany.
