Long lines for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol or fuel, reemerged in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and parts of Niger and Nasarawa States on Friday and Saturday. This resurgence follows the closure of numerous filling stations operated by independent marketers.
Motorists flocked to the few stations still dispensing petrol, primarily those run by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) and some major oil marketers in Abuja and the surrounding states.
The immediate cause of the latest fuel queues remains unclear. In various areas of the FCT, including Lugbe, the Central Business District, Wuse, Kubwa, and Jabi, petrol was sold at prices ranging from N660 to N800 per litre, while NNPC stations maintained a price of N619 per litre.
Black market sellers were seen offering petrol in jerrycans at prices ranging from N1000 to N1200 per litre.
