The Ondo State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) recently revealed that they have prosecuted about 300 individuals for various traffic offenses in their mobile court.
Assistant Corps Commander Ayoola Salauden, the FRSC Ondo Unit Commander, made this announcement during a mobile court session in Ondo town where traffic offenders were being prosecuted.
Salauden emphasized that reducing the high rate of road traffic crashes along the Ondo-Ore Expressway and in Nigeria as a whole is a shared responsibility. The mobile court program, according to him, is a crucial initiative aimed at achieving a significant reduction in road accidents.
He mentioned that this recent session marked the second time this year that offenders were prosecuted, with plans to prosecute another 150 offenders on that particular day to further decrease road accidents along the Ondo-Ore Road.
The FRSC officials stressed the effectiveness of the mobile court system as a crucial strategy for enforcing traffic regulations and reducing road accidents.
The Head of Operations of the sector command, Mr. Joseph Ajayi, highlighted the successes of the mobile court in apprehending and prosecuting traffic offenders, especially for violations such as overloading and failure to install speed limit devices.
Ajayi noted that many accidents in recent times have been a result of speeding, particularly involving commercial vehicles that lack speed limit devices and are overloaded.
The mobile court program’s focus on addressing these specific violations demonstrates its impact and success in improving road safety and reducing traffic-related incidents in the region.
