Forum Advocates for Increased Youth Participation in Politics

Speakers at a democracy forum have called for greater involvement of Nigerian youths in politics to advance national development.

This call was made at an event in Abuja organized by the non-governmental organization Gatefield, themed “Threats to Nigeria’s Democracy: How Not to Run a Country.”

Anthony Ubani, Executive Director of Fix Politics, and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Jibrin Okutepa, encouraged young Nigerians to view politics not as a corrupt endeavor but as a driving force for economic change and development.

Panelist Aisha Yusufu and FRAME DEMOCRACY Program Manager, Mahmud Jafar, emphasized the need for youths to hold national leaders accountable to foster the country’s growth.

Participants at the forum also urged leaders to create more opportunities for youths to thrive in the political landscape.
