Former journalist attacked by hoodlums in Niger

The Former Journalist, Aliyu Hamagan has been attacked and seriously injured by hoodlums at his residence in Minna, the Niger State capital.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at 2am last week where he was attacked with knives and cutlases, leaving him with severe wounds on his head and back.

The criminals also carted away their victims laptop, iPad, iphone and a small phone among other valuables.

Hamagan was rushed to the Minna General Hospital where he received medical care and was discharged

The veteran Journalist in an interview with newsmen in Minna expressed surprise at the development, saying his assailants flashed touch light directly on his eyes during their operation and asked him to remain quiet throughout the period.

“Despite the injuries they gave me, I still thank God for sparing my life. They also threatened during their operation that I should remain silent as my entire house has been surrounded by their colleagues. And, if I do anything funny, they will kill me, ” he told colleagues.

However, when contacted for more details of the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Wasiu Abiodun declined comment on the incident stating that he was not aware of an attack on any journalist in the state.

He assured that he will find out from the concerned DPO and revert to the media.

Hamagan was a one time correspondent of Daily Trust in Niger, Gombe, Jigawa, and Kebbi States respectively .
