Nigeria: The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Asaba has introduced a monthly biometric capturing system to prevent the “Japa Syndrome,” a phenomenon where employees continue to receive salaries after relocating abroad for better opportunities.
Dr. Mary Alile-Idele, Chairman of the Board of Management at FMC Asaba, made the announcement during a facility tour and operational review, emphasizing the need for government institutions across Nigeria to adopt similar systems.

She emphasized that this approah is in stark contrast to some organizations where employees remain on the payroll despite years of absence.
