Liverpool, England— Liverpool star Florian Wirtz has expressed strong optimism about teammate Hugo Ekitike’s ability to make a goal-scoring impact in the Premier League.
Wirtz, who himself cost a club-record £116 million this summer, praised Ekitike—the Reds’ second most expensive signing at an initial £69 million—as a “really good player” and said he enjoyed watching him during his time at Frankfurt.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Wirtz said, “He is a joy to watch, and I’m really happy he chose to come to Liverpool. In training, he’s already doing well, and in games, we have had some good combinations. I’m very pleased to play alongside him.”
The German playmaker also highlighted the advantage of having several new players join simultaneously, noting, “It’s good to have others coming in at the same time so we can connect and communicate with each other, which helps when settling into a new team.”
Wirtz’s remarks underline the promising partnership forming between the two big-money signings as Liverpool prepare for the upcoming Premier League campaign.
