A devastating flood has left over 2000 households homeless in various communities within Talata Mafara local government area of Zamfara State.
The flood has caused significant damage to properties, including livestock worth millions of Naira. The impacted communities include Ruwan Gora, Morai, Makera, Talata Mafara town, among others.
Officials from the Zamfara State Emergency Management Agency (ZEMA) have confirmed the incident and have visited the affected communities to assess the extent of the damage. The Executive Secretary of ZEMA, Ahmed Bala Gusau, expressed deep regret over the unfortunate incident during the assessment visit.
Mr. Hassan Usman Dauran, the Director of Disaster Management and Control at ZEMA, assured the victims that the state government is committed to providing necessary assistance in the wake of the disaster.
The Sole Administrator of Talata Mafara local government, Usman Jafar, also joined the assessment team and sympathized with the affected victims. He urged them not to obstruct waterways to prevent further flooding.
The flooding in Zamfara State has had a significant impact on the affected communities, displacing thousands of households and causing considerable loss of property and livestock.
The state government and emergency management agencies are working to provide support and assistance to those affected by the natural disaster.
