At least three people have lost their lives due to severe flooding in several villages across three local government areas in Bauchi State.
The flood, which also displaced hundreds of residents, destroyed farmlands and property valued at millions of naira. The disaster was triggered by a heavy downpour that lasted for about three hours, leading to a massive surge of surface runoff in the affected communities.
The Director General of the Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mas‘ud Aliyu, confirmed the incident during an assessment and sympathy visit to the impacted areas. Aliyu noted that the flood not only caused significant loss of life and property but also severely disrupted livelihoods, with many domestic animals lost, leaving residents in a state of despair.
