First Lady Provides N100 Million for Niger Tanker Victim

Minna, Niger State  —  The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has extended financial assistance to victims of the recent tanker explosion in Niger State, reaffirming the federal government’s commitment to supporting disaster-stricken communities.

During a condolence visit to the Niger State Government House in Minna, Senator Tinubu presented a N100 million donation to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago. The symbolic cheque handover underscores her dedication to alleviating the suffering of affected families.

The First Lady was accompanied by Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, and was received at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport before proceeding to her engagements.

Speaking on the tragedy, Senator Tinubu emphasized the importance of proactive safety measures to prevent future tanker-related disasters. She expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and reaffirmed her commitment to complementing the state government’s relief efforts.

Governor Bago lauded the visit as a significant gesture that strengthens collaboration between the federal and state governments.

Beyond the donation, Senator Tinubu also paid courtesy visits to former military leaders, Generals Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, at their residences in Minna.

In a brief interview, General Abdulsalami commended her various intervention programs targeting women, children, and youth, while the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, assured the unwavering support of traditional institutions in advancing government policies.

The visit concluded with a renewed commitment to fostering national unity and providing sustained relief for vulnerable communities.
