Fire Guts Trademore Estate Market in Abuja

ABUJA – A fire outbreak early Monday morning razed sections of the market within Trademore Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, causing extensive damage before emergency responders arrived.

The fire reportedly started around 3:30 a.m., shortly after power was restored by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC). While the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, eyewitnesses suspect it may have been triggered by an electrical fault.

Manzo Ezekiel, spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the incident, noting that the fire was eventually brought under control by personnel from the Federal Fire Service.

Residents described the destruction as severe, with one witness, identified as Joe, stating that emergency services arrived approximately two hours after the fire began. As of now, no casualties have been reported.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is expected to commence to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
