Football’s world governing body, FIFA, on Thursday revealed that the Under-17 World Cup will become an annual event with more participating teams.
The tournament is designed to aid football development across the world.
Nigeria has won the male Under-17 World Cup five times.
Morocco will host the next female Under-17 tournament, while while Qatar will host the male competition.
The competition’s return to Africa in 2025 offers FIFA President Gianni Infantino a chance to inspire future female footballers, stating it would encourage “so many more girls – and boys – to take up football in the country, and as it is the first time the tournament comes to Africa, that inspiration will spread right across the continent.”
