A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at connecting Nigerians to employment opportunities in Kuwait, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and Scandinavian countries has been signed in Abuja.
The agreement, signed with a private company that is a Nigerian subsidiary of a leading Kuwaiti employment agency, aligns with the Federal Government’s objective to create beneficial international partnerships that facilitate job provisions for Nigerians.
Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, emphasized that these opportunities could involve direct employment, talent emigration, or the utilization of the Business Process Outsourcing model to secure meaningful employment for Nigerians.
Dr. Uzoka-Anite, who oversaw the agreement’s signing, highlighted this as a significant step towards ensuring access to quality employment opportunities for Nigerians.
Mr. Athbi Hussein Al Awadi, representing the Kuwaiti government, expressed commendation for the collaboration, with his remarks interpreted by Mr. Tahir Saleh Hashim.
Dr. Femi Adeluyi, Coordinator of the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), who signed the MoU on behalf of the federal government, detailed the “one plus two” approach outlined in the agreement. He explained that the partnership involves selecting Nigerians for foreign jobs through NATEP, connecting them to outsourced roles, and providing necessary training support.
