The Federal Government has reportedly rescinded the appointment of Mr. Shelmsudeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF). In a surprising development, the former AGF, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, who had been directed to retire earlier, has been reinstated and will continue to serve in the role until March 2025.
This decision follows a directive issued by the Office of the Head of Service, which reportedly sent a formal letter permitting Madein to remain in office.
The reinstatement of Mrs. Madein comes amidst discussions about continuity in managing the country’s financial administration. Her extended tenure is expected to maintain stability and ensure the effective execution of fiscal responsibilities within the government.
