The Federal Government has introduced the National Youth Skills Programme aimed at equipping young Nigerians with essential skills and addressing the country’s high unemployment rate. The initiative was officially launched in Abuja.
Minister of Youth Development Dr. Jemila Bio-Ibrahim announced that the programme is designed to create job opportunities for over three million unemployed youths. Following the skills training, participants will receive start-up capital through the National Youth Fund to support their entrepreneurial ventures.
Dr. Bio-Ibrahim highlighted that the programme focuses on eleven key sectors, including agriculture, renewable energy, and the digital economy. The initiative is expected to enhance the development of standardized skills among youths and will be supported by a comprehensive monitoring framework to ensure its effectiveness.
