Yobe state, Nigeria: The Federal Government has officially commissioned the Gashua Water Supply Scheme in Filin Tanda, Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring access to clean and safe water across Nigeria.

The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, who led the inauguration, described the project as a vital step toward resolving long-standing water supply challenges in Gashua and its environs. He noted that the facility, with a capacity of 3,200 million litres per day, is expected to provide potable water to over one million residents.

Representing Governor Buni at the event, Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana thanked the federal government for its intervention, stressing the importance of water in healthcare delivery and socio-economic development. He pointed to the persistent water scarcity in northern Yobe and mentioned studies examining possible links between water quality and kidney-related ailments in the region.
