Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Government has expressed its full support for the production and promotion of a documentary chronicling Nigeria’s 25 years of uninterrupted democracy.
The endorsement was given by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a meeting with the executive members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on Friday in Abuja.
Describing the project as a pivotal historical record, Idris commended IPAC’s initiative, emphasizing that the documentary would serve as an important reflection on the nation’s democratic progress.
“This documentary is a significant effort in documenting our democratic journey. It will celebrate our achievements, acknowledge challenges, and serve as a long-lasting record of the lessons learned over the past 25 years,” the minister stated.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering democracy, adding that the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation would collaborate with IPAC to ensure the success of the project.
“The government appreciates the relentless efforts of IPAC in strengthening democracy. This film will honor Nigeria’s political icons while showcasing our democratic evolution to both citizens and the international community,” he added.
Idris also highlighted the importance of unity beyond political competition, urging parties to work together for national development.
“Democracy thrives on healthy political competition, but beyond elections, collaboration is essential for national progress. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to promoting inclusive governance that prioritizes national interest over party affiliations,” he said.
In response, IPAC National Chairman, Hon. Yusuf Dantalle, emphasized that the documentary would spotlight Nigeria’s progress in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social cohesion.
“Beyond documenting history, this project is designed to educate and inspire younger generations, particularly Gen Z, on the essence of democracy. With high production quality and Nollywood’s finest actors involved, it will meet global standards in storytelling and impact,” Dantalle noted.
Accompanying the IPAC delegation were Deputy National Chairman Dipo Olayokun, Council Member Chief Dan Nwayanwu, and National Secretary Maxwell Mabudem, among other executives.
