FG delegation arrives Madinah for Dantata’s burial

Abuja, Nigeria: A high-level delegation from the Federal Government of Nigeria has arrived in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, to receive the remains of the late elder statesman and prominent businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, ahead of his burial.

Dantata, a renowned philanthropist and industrialist, passed away on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the age of 94.

The delegation, which departed Nigeria on Sunday, landed in Madinah in the early hours of Monday. It is led by the Minister of Defence and former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.

Other members of the delegation include the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.

The team is accompanied by prominent Islamic clerics, including Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, the Imam of Dantata Mosque in Abuja.

Officials from the Nigerian Consulate-General in Jeddah, led by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya, are coordinating funeral arrangements in accordance with Islamic rites. The burial is scheduled to take place later on Monday in the holy city of Madinah.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata was a respected figure in Nigeria’s business landscape and a pillar of philanthropy, celebrated for his enduring contributions to commerce, faith, and national development.
