London, England — Football pundit and former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand has hinted that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen could be eyeing a move to Old Trafford this summer, following his reported rejection of a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.
Ferdinand made the remarks during a recent episode of his Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, where he discussed United’s transfer prospects ahead of the new season. According to the ex-England international, Osimhen’s decision to turn down Al Hilal’s mega deal may be a sign that the Galatasaray forward is holding out for a switch to the Premier League, with Manchester United seen as a likely destination.
“They already know who I want,” Ferdinand stated. “Osimhen. It looks like he’s rejected Al Hilal — he must be waiting for Manchester United.”
While acknowledging that it remains uncertain whether the Red Devils will make a concrete move for the Super Eagles star, Ferdinand named Osimhen as his top choice for United’s attack. However, he added that if the club fails to land the 26-year-old forward, Swedish international Viktor Gyökeres would be a solid alternative.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has enjoyed a stellar campaign in Turkey and remains one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers. His next move is eagerly awaited as the summer transfer window heats up.
