Federal Polytechnic Student Kills Colleague in Nasarawa

Nasarawa, Nigeria —  The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a student of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, for allegedly killing a fellow student in a violent altercation.

Police spokesperson, Superintendent Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrest in a statement, revealing that officers responded to a complaint from Madam Mercy Bassey, a resident who reported a fight between two of her tenants.

Upon arrival, detectives discovered Ibrahim Matthew, a part-time ND2 Computer Science student, lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to Nasarawa General Hospital but was pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries.

The suspect, John Gambo, an ND2 Banking and Finance student, was swiftly apprehended and reportedly confessed to attacking Matthew with an axe and a knife. Both weapons, stained with blood, were recovered at the scene as evidence.

Commissioner of Police, Shettima Jauro Mohammed, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for thorough investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, the victim’s remains have been deposited at the morgue for an autopsy.
