Federal Government Refutes Allegations of Foreign Military Base Plans

The Federal Government of Nigeria has categorically denied speculations circulating about potential discussions with foreign nations regarding the establishment of foreign military bases within the country’s borders.

In a statement released by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the government vehemently refuted these rumors, asserting that no such discussions or proposals have been entertained. The government urged the public to disregard these unfounded claims entirely.

The statement clarified that while Nigeria values foreign collaboration in addressing security challenges, there are currently no ongoing negotiations or considerations regarding the hosting of foreign military bases on Nigerian territory.

Minister Idris underscored that the President has reiterated his commitment to fostering partnerships with other nations to enhance national security, aligning with the objectives outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The issuance of the government’s statement aims to dispel misinformation and reassure citizens of its unequivocal position regarding the prospect of foreign military presence within Nigeria’s borders.
