The Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. In the statement, the minister extended his congratulations to the Muslim community both within Nigeria and abroad on the occasion of Eid-ul-Mawlid.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged the Muslim faithful to use this period to offer prayers for lasting peace and the prosperity of the nation. He also called on all Nigerians, especially the Muslim community, to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience in their daily lives.
