The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has sanctioned the allocation of N985 million for the procurement of body scanners to be installed at Abuja and Lagos international airports.
This decision was announced by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, during a briefing with State House correspondents following the FEC meeting on Tuesday.
Fagbemi detailed that three proposals were presented for approval, including the “procurement of two units of body scanners for deployment at both Abuja and Lagos International Airports, at a cost of N985 million.”
Additionally, on June 24, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) disclosed the deployment of 120 officers for the Aviation Security (AVSEC) special force, aimed at bolstering security measures and safeguarding assets and lives at the airports.
