Ogun, Nigeria — The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Odukaye Kunle, the man seen in a viral video brutally assaulting his son, Boluwatife, in Otta, Ogun State.
Kunle’s arrest followed public outrage after disturbing footage surfaced online, showing him kicking the young boy. The video triggered swift action from law enforcement.
Confirming the development, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced on Saturday via X (formerly Twitter) that Kunle is now in police custody and will be arraigned in court on Monday.
Meanwhile, authorities have taken Boluwatife and his mother to the police medical centre in Otta for necessary medical care and evaluation.
“Update on Ogun Child Abuse: Odukaye Kunle, the father who assaulted his son, Boluwatife, in Otta, has just been arrested,” the statement read.
It further noted, “The boy and his mother will receive medical attention at our police medical centre in Otta, with the OC Medical, Ogun State, overseeing the process. Kunle will be charged to court on Monday.”
The statement also commended CP Lanre Ogunlowo and his team for their swift action, assuring the public that justice will be served.
Kunle’s arrest follows a manhunt launched by the Ogun State Police Command after Adelere Rasaki, a Facebook user, shared the distressing footage online. The video quickly went viral, sparking widespread condemnation and demands for accountability.
