Tragedy struck on the Ilaro-Owode Road in Ogun State as a devastating collision between a Mitsubishi car, bearing registration JJJ 854 JH, and a truck with the license plate T12224LA, resulted in the loss of two lives and left another individual injured.
Florence Okpe, the official spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed the harrowing incident in a statement released from Abeokuta on Friday. The collision, which occurred at precisely 6:00 pm, involved a total of seven individuals, comprising four men and three women.
Okpe detailed that the crash led to one woman sustaining injuries, while tragically claiming the lives of two men. Preliminary investigations by the FRSC point to potential causes of obstruction and speed violations as contributing factors to the collision.
Both the injured victim and the deceased were promptly transported to the General Hospital in Ilaro for medical attention and further processing.
In response to the incident, Sector Commander Anthony Uga emphasized the critical importance of adhering to designated speed limits and diligently observing all traffic laws and regulations, urging motorists to prioritize safety on the roads.
