Factional loyalists meet under tight security in Rivers Assembly

The division in the Rivers State House of Assembly has continued to seethe as the police took over the complex on Tuesday.

Loyalists to both factions held separate meetings at different locations.

Police vehicles were positioned at the entrance of the complex, while an Armoured Personnel Carrier was also seen patrolling the road where the complex is situated.

Movement of persons along the axis of Moscow Road of the complex was as well restricted, with a number of personnel on ground.

There was no reason given for the security formation around the premises of the Assembly complex.

25 lawmakers led by the House Speaker; Martin Amaewhule reportedly sat early on Tuesday to deliberate the suspension of the strike by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PSAN).

The other lawmakers led by factional Speaker, Edison Ehie, in their sitting passed a vote of confidence on Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
