Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched an investigation into an incident involving popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, over an alleged violation of aviation security protocols at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, FAAN confirmed that the altercation occurred on Monday, August 5, during boarding procedures for ValueJet Airlines Flight VK 201 en route to Lagos.
According to the statement signed by Obiageli Orah, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, preliminary findings revealed that the passenger attempted to board the aircraft while carrying a flask containing an unidentified liquid, in violation of aviation regulations.
“During routine screening, the passenger declined to comply with aviation security rules regarding the carriage of liquids exceeding 100ml in hand luggage,” the agency stated.
FAAN cited international standards, including provisions under Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme and ICAO Annex 17 , which restrict liquids beyond the 100ml limit unless medically necessary and properly declared.
The situation reportedly escalated when the musician refused multiple requests to step aside for further checks. FAAN alleged that the passenger poured the contents of the flask—later identified as alcohol—on an airline security officer, prompting intervention from the Flight Captain.
“Despite continued efforts to de-escalate the situation, the passenger resisted multiple instructions and proceeded to the front of the aircraft, causing further disruption,” the statement added.
After boarding was completed and the aircraft door shut, FAAN said the passenger was eventually escorted away by members of the Aviation Security (AVSEC) Crime Unit for questioning before being released.
FAAN strongly condemned the incident, reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy toward any act that jeopardizes airport safety and operational efficiency.
“The Authority remains fully committed to the safety and security of passengers, crew members, and all airport stakeholders. We will not hesitate to enforce disciplinary measures where violations occur, regardless of status or popularity,” the statement emphasized.
The agency assured the public that the incident remains under thorough investigation and that appropriate legal action will be taken against any parties found culpable.
“FAAN remains steadfast in upholding the highest standards of aviation safety, professionalism, and regulatory compliance across all Nigerian airports,” the statement concluded.
