European Leaders to Convene Emergency Summit on Ukraine.

Paris, France  —  In response to growing concerns over U.S.-led peace talks with Russia that may sideline European nations, leaders across the continent are set to hold an emergency summit next week to discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine

The high-level meeting, scheduled to take place in Paris, is expected to feature the participation of Sir Keir Starmer, who described the moment as a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to reassess national security priorities. He emphasized the need for Europe to take a more active role within NATO to safeguard its collective defense interests.

US-Russia Talks Raise Alarm in Europe

The summit follows remarks by Donald Trump’s special envoy to Ukraine, who announced that while European leaders would be consulted, they would not be directly involved in peace negotiations between the United States and Russia.

According to reports, Marco Rubio and other senior White House officials, including the U.S. Secretary of State, are expected to engage in direct talks with Russian negotiators in Saudi Arabia in the coming days.

Special Envoy Keith Kellogg defended the approach, asserting that previous diplomatic efforts had failed due to the involvement of too many parties, which complicated the peace process.

Calls for European Unity

Reacting to the developments, Sir Keir underscored the importance of maintaining transatlantic unity, stressing that the United States and Europe must remain aligned to prevent external forces from exploiting any fractures in the alliance.

His remarks align with a growing sentiment within European leadership, particularly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently proposed the establishment of a dedicated “European army” amid concerns over waning U.S. military support for the continent.

As diplomatic efforts intensify, the upcoming Paris summit is poised to shape the trajectory of Europe’s response to the Ukraine crisis, reinforcing the continent’s role in geopolitical decision-making.
