Manchester United midfielder, Christian Eriksen has come under fire for an ‘unacceptable’ admission in his post-match interview after his side’s disappointing Europa League 1-1 draw with Twente on Wednesday.
Eriksen’s 35th-minute goal appeared to be taking Man United to victory in the Europa League tie against Twente, but the Denmark international then gave the ball away to allow Twente to equalise in the second half.
Speaking at his post-match interview, Eriksen admitted to TNT Sports that Twente ‘looked like they wanted it more’ than the Rest Devils.
However, football pundits, Owen Hargreaves and Karen Carney are not pleased with Erikson’s comment.
“It was interesting what he said there about them wanting it more,” Hargreaves said. “Obviously you can’t have that. I didn’t get that impression myself. I thought United’s heads went down a bit after the goal and that is not good enough. They didn’t get the job done.”
On her part, Carney added: “To hear that, you can’t have that. That’s unacceptable.
“You are at home, you’re winning, you should want it more and be ruthless. I don’t see the ruthless edge in this team at the minute.”
