Manchester, England — Manchester United head coach, Ruben Amorim, says clinching the UEFA Europa League title could significantly redeem what has been a turbulent campaign for the Red Devils.
United’s 2024/25 season has been riddled with inconsistency, leaving the club on the verge of finishing outside the Premier League’s top 10—a historic low for the English giants.
As the team prepares to take on Athletic Club in Thursday’s Europa League semi-final first leg, Amorim emphasized the importance of European success in salvaging their year.
Speaking to ManUtd.com, the Portuguese gaffer acknowledged that while nothing can entirely erase the season’s shortcomings, winning the Europa League would mark a major turning point.
“It’s clear to everyone how crucial this competition has become for us,” Amorim said. “Perhaps nothing fully ‘saves’ the season, but this could be a huge moment.”
He further added that securing silverware—alongside the potential return to Champions League football—could have a transformative impact on the club’s atmosphere and summer plans.
“A trophy and Champions League qualification can reshape the outlook ahead of next season,” Amorim concluded.
