Enugu: Pregnant Woman Delivers Baby in Kidnappers’ Hideout

In a harrowing ordeal, a pregnant woman en route to the hospital for delivery was reportedly abducted and subsequently gave birth at the kidnappers’ hideout in Egede, Udi local government area of Enugu State.

The distressing incident, said to have occurred last Monday, unfolded as the woman, identified as Chinwendu Igwe, was accompanied by her two young children aged between two and four years.

Mr. Ekene Igwe, the woman’s husband, confirmed the incident to reporters, revealing that he paid a ransom of N1.6 million for the safe release of his wife and newborn son from the forest where the kidnappers held them captive.

According to Igwe, a benevolent motorcyclist came to the rescue of his two abandoned children, who were left on the road by the kidnappers.

“I paid a ransom of N1.6 million before I could get my wife and the newborn baby,” Igwe disclosed.

Expressing gratitude to God for their safe return, Igwe, who hails from Attakwu Akegbe Ugwu Awkunanaw, recounted the traumatic experience his family endured.
