Abuja, Nigeria—The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently review and reverse economic policies burdening Nigerians, particularly high fuel prices, electricity tariffs, and charges on essential services.
In a statement issued Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP urged the government to use the Eid-el-Kabir season to reflect on the principles of sacrifice and compassion, and to take decisive steps to ease the suffering of citizens. The party appealed to Tinubu to dedicate the remainder of his tenure to policies that enhance the well-being of the Nigerian people.
Highlighting the current economic, social, and security challenges in the country, the PDP encouraged citizens to remain hopeful and united, calling for collective prayers for divine intervention in national affairs. “The PDP charges Nigerians not to give up hope but remain patriotic, continue to share with one another at this trying time, and pray constantly for God’s divine intervention in the affairs of the nation,” the statement read.
The party also urged political leaders to use the Eid celebration to recommit to good governance, fear of God, and the fight against corruption. It demanded the recovery of looted funds and their redirection towards strengthening infrastructure, supporting security agencies, and revitalizing key sectors of the economy.
Extending warm greetings to Muslims and all Nigerians, the PDP wished the nation a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Kabir.
