An operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly committed suicide at his residence in Abuja.
The identity of the deceased, who died on Monday, remains undisclosed, though it is known that he was a member of Course 5 of the EFCC academy.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is ongoing to “ascertain the circumstances surrounding the sad incident.”
Mr. Oyewale indicated that the agency is examining possible contributing factors, including mental health issues and family challenges, that may have led to the operative’s decision to take his own life.
He emphasized that the Commission will not release any further statements or disclose the identity of the officer until the investigation is complete.
