EFCC Officer’s Alleged Killer Not a Medical Personnel – NMA

Awka, Nigeria —  The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has dismissed claims that Joshua Ikechukwu, the suspect accused of killing Aminu Salisu, an assistant superintendent with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), is a licensed medical practitioner.

The EFCC had accused Ikechukwu of being involved in internet fraud and questionable online medical supply activities, leading to the tragic death of Salisu during a recent operation in Anambra State.

Reports initially suggested that Ikechukwu was a medical doctor linked to the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH). However, the NMA has debunked this claim, confirming that Ikechukwu has no professional ties to medicine.

In a statement released on Monday, Dr. Obiaeli Ifeanyi, the NMA Secretary in Anambra State, clarified that Ikechukwu’s association with medical supplies may have caused the misunderstanding.  “Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu is not a registered member of the NMA Awka Zone, and no one within the association recognizes him as a colleague or affiliate,”  the statement read.

The NMA urged the public and media to desist from labeling Ikechukwu as a doctor, reaffirming that he does not possess any medical qualifications or affiliations.
