Ilorin, Nigeria — The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday arrested 47 suspected internet fraudsters during a series of sting operations conducted across multiple locations in Kwara State.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the suspects’ alleged involvement in cyber-related offenses, EFCC operatives carried out coordinated raids at strategic spots, including Awolowo Road, Tanke, and Harmony Estate in Ilorin, as well as Ganmo and Amoyo in Ifelodun Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued by the Commission, the operation led to the recovery of items believed to be linked to cybercrime activities. These included 10 high-end vehicles, 74 different mobile phones, 18 laptop computers, and one motorcycle.
The EFCC confirmed that the individuals in custody are currently being interrogated, and legal proceedings will follow once investigations are finalized.
Reiterating its resolve to fight financial crimes, the EFCC emphasized the critical role of intelligence-driven enforcement in dismantling cybercriminal networks and preserving the integrity of Nigeria’s financial system.
