Edo Community in Kano Condemns Uromi Killings, Demands Justice

Nigeria: The Edo Community in Kano has strongly denounced the brutal killing of 16 travelers in Uromi, Edo State, describing the incident as “barbaric and unfortunate”

Elder Dr. Patrick Agba, President of the Edo Community in Kano, expressed deep solidarity with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo in their condemnation of the attack.

The victims, mostly hunters from northern Nigeria, were ambushed by a vigilante group and armed youths on March 27, 2025. Dr. Agba called for a swift and transparent investigation to ensure that those responsible face justice. He emphasized that Edo people are peace-loving and do not support violence or lawlessness.

The Edo Community in Kano extended condolences to the Kano State Government, the families of the victims, and the wider public. The attack has sparked widespread outrage, with many condemning the lawlessness that led to the killings. Authorities have arrested 14 suspects and are conducting investigations.

The Kano State Government has also condemned the act and urged a comprehensive probe to bring the perpetrators to justice. Sarki Edo in Kano, Fred Akhigbe, stressed that the tragic event does not reflect the values of the Edo people, who have always lived in peace with others.
