Dutse Emir Sanctions Two Chiefs for Misconduct

Dutse, Nigeria  : The Emir of Dutse, Dr. Hameem Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, has taken disciplinary action against two traditional leaders in Jigawa State for alleged misconduct and violation of emirate council regulations.

In a statement issued on Wednesday evening by the Secretary of the Dutse Emirate Council, Alhaji Amadu Malami, the council confirmed the suspension of the District Head of Kadangare, Alhaji Ibrahim Adamu, and the dismissal of the Ward Head of Lautai in Kiyawa District, Alhaji Amadu Iliya.

According to the statement, Adamu was suspended for failing to safeguard official property and for allowing the prohibited Dodo carnival to be held on land under his jurisdiction, in defiance of emirate laws.

“The district head was suspended for neglecting his duties and violating council directives regarding the protection of public property,” the statement read.

The council also removed Iliya from his position after he was found to have mortgaged a government farm and was reportedly collecting excessive fees from community members.

“The ward head’s dismissal followed findings that he had exploited public assets for personal gain,” the statement added.

The Emirate Council condemned both officials’ actions, describing them as unbecoming of traditional leaders and contrary to the values of the institution.

Alhaji Malami emphasized that the Emir had issued a clear warning to all traditional leaders to uphold the integrity of their offices and to avoid actions that could bring disrepute to the emirate.

“The Emir has reiterated that any leader who compromises the dignity of their position will face appropriate disciplinary measures,” he said.

He also stressed that the ban on the Dodo carnival remains in effect, and any violations of this law will attract sanctions.

The council said the decisions serve as a warning to all titleholders and are part of ongoing efforts to reinforce accountability and uphold the standards of traditional governance in the Dutse Emirate.
